eduroam – reaching out to Asia

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, worldwide roaming wireless network developed for the international research and education community. The eduroam footprint continues to expand, across countries and beyond university campuses to support global mobility for more academics, students and researchers.

In 2017, the eduroam system recorded over 3.6 billion national authentications and more than 834 million international authentications. A project funded by the Trans-Eurasian Information Network (TEIN) that saw eduroam successfully deployed in seven countries in Asia – Bhutan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka – is underway again to deploy eduroam in more countries in the Asia Pacific region, extending the reach of the service further.
